Virgin Vacation have been a unique force in the Hong Kong indie scene since their inception in 2018. Formed by visual artists, sound designers and theatre practitioners. Their self-titled debut EP released in 2021 draws from myriad sources from krautrock, film soundtracks, free jazz, electronica, through the use of improvisational techniques combined with structural musical arrangements that brews different musical style into a carefully crafted concoction of controlled chaos. Known for their collaborations with artists, filmmakers and other musicians which brings their music into a more experimental approach.

Virgin Vacation’s first debut album “Dapple Patterns” released in 2024 was nominated for the “Best Asian Creative Awards” at Taiwan GIMA Award 2024 and has been featured in multiple playlist on streaming platforms also named “Best singles” and “Top Album Release” by a number of medias in Asia.

In 2023, the band was invited to perform at CLOCKENFLAP, a major international music festival in Hong Kong, and began to gain attention from overseas music festivals and fans. In the following years, they were invited to perform at events such as SXSW SYDNEY 2025 in Sydney, Australia; the West Kowloon Free Jazz Festival 2025; the Tianjin Flowing Water 4th Anniversary River Map Music Festival; the Flowing Water Indoor Music Festival; the Tainan LucFest 2021 & 2023; the Tainan Vagabond Festival 2023; and the Tokyo BiKN Shibuya Music Festival 2023, among others, thus launching their overseas tours.

In 2024, Virgin Vacation were guest performers for Breman Entertainment Inc., winners of the Taiwan Golden Indie Music Awards' Best Band of the Year, at their Hong Kong concert. Following their Southeast Asian tour in 2025, they were also guest performers for JPBS, an experimental music band from Thailand, at their Hong Kong concert. The two bands even improvised a jam together on stage. This demonstrates how actively engaging in overseas tours and cultural exchanges allows the band to continuously promote creative work and mutually increase their opportunities and sustainability for overseas performances.

The band's first Asian tour, held between 2024 and 2025, covered eight cities and completed ten performances in venues of varying sizes, including Tokyo, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Beijing, Taipei, Taichung, and Tainan. Through the experience gained from this first Asian tour, they recognized the support of event planners and festival organizers active in the overseas music industry, who assisted the band in promotion and organizing exchange performances. This led to a second Asian tour in 2025, again featuring ten performances in eight Southeast Asian cities, including Jakarta, Bandung, Manila, Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Singapore, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen.
